Cultural tourism is an experience that every visitor can enjoy in the Municipality of Hersonissos. It shows our region’s culture, specifically the lifestyle of the people in these geographical areas, the history of those people, their art, architecture, religion, and other elements that helped shape their way of life. Our Municipality includes four Museums (the Museum of Rural Life ‘’Menelaos Parlamas’’ in Piskopiano, the Open Air Museum Lychnostatis, the Archeological Museum in Malia, the Battle of Crete and Ethnology Museum in Episkopi) and two Aquariums (Cretaquarium – Thalassocosmos and Aquaworld Aquarium) composing a complete cultural network which also includes tourism in rural areas showcasing the traditions of indigenous cultural communities (i.e. festivals, rituals), and their values and lifestyle.
