During the summer, from May to October, each Monday at 20:00 o’ clock, in the beautiful square of the village of Hersonissos, the restaurateurs organize a traditional Cretan night with live music and traditional dances. Musical instrument players, singers and dancers will show you the authentic traditional music of all parts of Crete and they will entertain you with their traditional musical instruments and traditional dances. It is a Cretan feast in which traditional dishes are available for everyone to taste and thus experience the Cretan cuisine.

In general, visitors can enjoy the famous traditional food, wine and “tsikoudia” offered in the traditional taverns of the village and have fun under the sounds of Cretan music, learn to dance and in combination with the Cretan hospitality, will be an unforgettable experience for those who will visit it.

The Merchant Club of Hersonissos organizes Cretan and Laiko (Greek music genre composed in Greek language in accordance with the tradition of Greeks) Nights, every Wednesday and Thursday from 20:00 to 22:00 in all the central locations of Hersonissos. At each event, the Merchant Club of Hersonissos offers free treats such as raki.

In the beautiful square of Mohos village, during the summer months and specifically every Wednesday at 20:00 pm, a Cretan night with live music and traditional dances is organized.

Numerous tourists and locals enjoy the music-dancing program presented and taste the famous Cretan dishes and drinks such as wine and “raki”. In addition, the dance group of Mohos Cultural Association “Proodos” and experienced musicians present a program with music and dances from Crete and folk music of our country.

Visitors learn to sing and dance with the help of the dances of the Association and thus they have the chance to experience a Cretan traditional feast which lasts until the morning.

The Ikaros – Paragliding Airsports Club organizes a meeting on the wonderful natural landscape of Avdou in the Municipality of Hersonissos every year. In 2017, the meeting will take place on 23rd -24th of September.

The flights and landing targets will be defined due to the weather conditions. Also, new pilots will be able to participate in the event in order to add flight hours.

Moreover, visitors will have the chance to enjoy a two-seater paragliding flight and admire the beautiful area from above.

The stay will be at the building of the Club, which is located at the entrance of the village of Avdou, and around it in tents, (there are toilets and shower rooms). Participants will get t-shirts as souvenir.

In this event, a feast with traditional Cretan music with an open invitation to everyone who wishes it is included.

The comedy “Gia Skotoma” (for murder) written and directed by Maria Manolakaki is performed in the courtyard area of the Primary School of Sgourokefali, on Saturday 23rd of September, at 20:00 in the evening. (In Greek).

The parish of Holy Trinity of Sgourokefali supports the event.

A concert-tribute to the composer Stathis Mastoras will take place during the “Heraklion – Summer 2017” events of the Municipality of Heraklion on Saturday 23rd of September, at “N. Kazantzakis” theater at 21:00. The entrance is free.
