Performing Arts Medicine deals with many aspects of performance health. Injuries of muscles, voice pathology, neurological conditions, effects of travelling and touring, psychological and lifestyle matters, are some of the subjects that need to be learnt and practised by Performing Arts Medical Specialists. Dr Hara Trouli, from University College London, presents an intriguing in- depth overview of the field and how the future can be designed in order to not only treat but also prevent problems that affect performing artists’ careers.
A piano recital follows by the superb Greek pianist Manos Kitsikopoulos, whose strive for excellence has gained him international recognition as an Academy of Athens scholar and honorary graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London. Manos will present an intriguing musical journey which will trace the transition from early childhood to death and rebirth through a selection of children’s pieces by Corea and Gubaidulina, late pieces of Liszt and Pärt, concluding with Beethoven’s apocalyptic final piano sonata in C minor op.111.
